Barcode Scanners
Barcode scanners, known to many as barcode readers, are produced in various forms, the most common type being laser scanners. In this instance, a moving laser beam scans the barcode, obtaining results in a fast and error-free reading. A less expensive option to laser scanners is the CCD scanner. This device has a row of light-emitting diodes and photo detectors.
About Barcode Scanners from BearCom
When they were first developed, the original barcode scanners were dubbed barcode wands, which the industry commonly referred to as the magic wand. In this case, a single light-emitting diode (LED) and a single photo detector were implemented to detect the typical black and white pattern of a barcode.
Additional Information about Barcode Scanners
Barcode printers are used to print the barcodes that are scanned by barcode scanners. The data is transferred to self-adhesive labels. Either thermo direct or thermo transfer are the print methods to choose from. Since thermo direct labels don’t like light, they should be used only when the information is required to last a few days, as happens in the case of address labels.
More Data about Barcode Scanners
In the case of thermo transfer printers, a heat-sensitive ribbon is positioned between the print head and the label. When heat is introduced to the ribbon, ink transfers from the ribbon onto the label. The labels are then printed after the barcode scanners furnish the information to the printer.
